Ack. Not a very rigorous article and it merely continues the centuries old tradition of vilifying Nero who wasn’t a great or good man but had his admirers along with detractors. Part of the problem with looking at him accurately is the smear campaign against him by Christians who saw him as the anti-christ and actively sought to burn Rome to the ground…arson’s punishment was to be thrown to the lions. Once you know this the whole issue of his reign becomes quite muddied and difficult to discern the truth of the matter.
